Comprehensive Step-by-step Guide
… to getting your driver’s learner’s permit.
4:30 on Thursday, May 8, 2008 when we got to the DMV office in Wampsville. I brought with me the handbook that my chinese co-worker gave me a few months ago along with the application forms which I used even though I was given one at the DMV office in Syracuse. I think it was my lucky charm that day. Hehe. I wasn’t prepared at all, no clue how the process actually takes place. The first time we went to Syracuse I had birth certificate with me and my green card. We fell in line at about 4pm and when we got to the person at the counter he was looking for my Social Security Card which I didn’t bring with me. I usually bring with me my suitcase with all the documents from my immigration until I got my green card. But that time I happened to have my SSN card on the table at home. Bummer! But the way I look at it, there probably was a reason for such delays, maybe God didn’t want me to fail or it will cost more money each time I take the written test. Must be he knows I don’t want to spend my hard earned money hehehe! Oh, i forgot any other proof of identity good thing I had tons of paystubs and bank statement in my suitcase. The lady was a little hesitant about my identity??
My Interim Learner’s Permit
Here is the (basic) step-by-step process to get your Learner’s Permit:
[State of New York Laws Applied, if any]
- Proceed to the appropriate counter; documents needed - SSN card - birth certificate, other forms of identification such as, bank statement, pay stubs, stated ID’s, debit/credit card.
- When documents needed accepted you would be taking your eye test
- After you pass the eye test, you will then be given a sheet for your written test.
- Next would be your picture take for your learner’s permit card.
- Take as much time as you need, read and re-read the questions and review your answers. Questions are very confusing and are so related to each other but you would be thinking logically and you’d be fine.
- Submit the completed test and you’d know right away if you pass or not.
- If you pass you would be directed to the specific counter where you would pay the amount.
- You would receive your Lerner’s Permit Card (and Photo card in about two weeks)
- Now you are ready to learn behind the wheel!
This is based on my own experience and may vary from place to place. I didn’t have any idea how it would go even though my co-worker whose voice makes me want to run away from her didn’t work. She speaks so much even though her opinions aren’t needed or sought for. So I refused to listen to her. Hehe. Thought I’d share my experience with you.

My Own Dog Salon right @ Home
We managed to finish our house works early today. I even gave our dog Rudy a hair cut. We save about 50 bucks instead of spent it. He is a miniature poodle. He’s such an emotional dog.

Doesn’t he look happier and more comfortable on the second picture? I have been taking care of his grooming since I got here in the US and so far I think he likes it, plus that’s a lot of savings. He’s being cooperative while I cut his hair makes it a lot easier.

Newlywed Mariah
… shows off her new husband Nick Cannon. They had a surprise wedding in Bahamas last week. After their first appearance together after their wedding at “100 Most Influential People in the World” party in NY last week. They were asked how the wedding was a.nd she just answered 2 words, “Very nice”. Well, that tells it all. Access Hollywood showed and (xoomed in) the couple’s diamond studded wedding rings.

I think they look great together, Let’s hope it’s one of long lasting marriage. How about likewise recently wedded Beyonce and Jay-Z? I so hope the same.

Toasted at Fireside Inn
Last Thursday after we went to the car dealer and finalized the deal and after I got my permit we had dinner at a restaurant just down the road where the car dealership was located. So we stopped at this place called David’s Fireside Steak, we went there once before when we used to travel to Cooperstown for a small picnic, just the two of us. Hehe, so it’s small. Anyway, we stopped there once and it was OK. I can’t remember what I had I think we just had a little order of appetizer because I felt sick from a long drive so we decided to take a break. But Thursday we both had the specials for the day. I had the salmon and hubby had spinach stuffed steak which was really good. It’s always like whatever he orders I would usually like it and vice versa. We had wine and toasted for my newly acquired permit and our 2 brand new cars! My salmon was pretty good as well it was topped with some red pepper and some kind of sauce.
I was so hungry and stressed after driving to Marcy way up north, and driving on the Thruway either wasn’t an exciting ride. Then went to DMV office and took my eye test and written test which I successfully passed considering I didn’t really study. The week ended in bliss.

Slacker!
Sun is out. But I could feel the chill. I made breakfast this morning and now am off to other house chores in a short while. I have been a slacker housewife lately. Thanks to my ever understanding hubby.
I am gonna be off for an hour to finish some house work here.
